Samsung Galaxy AI label: remove the metadata, not the watermark
Updated
Samsung marks Galaxy AI edits in two places: a visible watermark saved into the image, and on the Galaxy S25 series, C2PA Content Credentials inside the file. ScrubPhoto clears the metadata that Meta and TikTok look for, but the visible watermark stays, because that mark is part of the pixels. Our Samsung watermark guide covers the visible mark in depth.
Check a file for Instagram, TikTok and Facebook label triggers or scrub it now. Both run in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
What Samsung writes into a Galaxy AI photo
Samsung describes the visible mark in its own words. The footnotes to its January 2025 Galaxy S25 launch release say that for Generative Edit, Portrait Studio and Drawing Assist, "a visible watermark is overlaid on the image output upon saving" to show the image is AI generated. Samsung's US support page on Gallery AI tools warns that AI-generated images get a Galaxy AI watermark. Samsung Canada's Photo Assist help, updated in December 2025, places it in the bottom-left corner.
The metadata side comes from Samsung's February 2025 newsroom post. It says the Galaxy S25 series is the first smartphone lineup to support Content Credentials, based on the C2PA standard, and that Samsung adopted it for transparency around content created and edited with generative AI. That post does not list which edits get credentials or which other models do. Run your own Gallery export through the checker to see what yours carries.
Galaxy photos can hold other data too. If location tags were on when you shot it, EXIF holds GPS coordinates. Motion photos also store a short video clip after the still image inside the same file.
Which platforms react to a Samsung AI edit
Two different things get noticed, by different audiences. The visible watermark is in the picture, so every viewer on every app sees it. The Content Credentials are for software. Meta scans Instagram, Facebook and Threads uploads for C2PA and IPTC AI indicators and labels the posts where it finds them. TikTok's May 2024 announcement covered the same standard: content carrying Content Credentials gets labeled automatically. If the credentials describe an edit rather than a fully generated image, Meta's September 2024 update puts its label in the post's menu. Other apps, like Pinterest or X, describe their own handling on their help pages.
Remove the AI generated label from a Samsung photo
On a Galaxy phone the steps are short:
- Open the tool in your phone's browser and pick the photo from your gallery.
- Read the panel. It names the C2PA signer, shows "GPS: present" if location is stored, and gives a verdict per platform.
- Tap Scrub, then Share or Download.
Installed from the browser as an app, ScrubPhoto joins the Android share sheet, which lets you send a photo over straight from Gallery. JPEG, PNG and WebP files are cleaned without touching a pixel. If your phone saved the photo as HEIC, Chrome on Android cannot open it in the tool, so save a JPEG copy first.
The output is a plain still photo. ScrubPhoto removes the C2PA block, XMP, and EXIF including GPS and serial numbers. It also removes anything appended after the image, which means a motion photo loses its video clip. The color profile and orientation stay as they were.
Can you remove the Samsung AI watermark?
Not with ScrubPhoto. It deletes metadata bytes and never edits pixels, so the mark Samsung draws into the image comes out exactly as it went in. Taking an on-image watermark off means repainting part of the photo. That is a different job from cleaning a file, and not one this site does. If the mark bothers you on a lightly edited shot, post the unedited original if you still have it.
Removing the metadata changes what the file tells software, nothing more. Samsung's mark is one kind of disclosure, and platforms have their own: Meta, for one, requires people to disclose photorealistic video or realistic audio created or altered with digital tools.
Questions about the Samsung AI label
How do I remove the AI generated label on Samsung photos?
If the label comes from Content Credentials in the file, scrubbing the photo removes them, and the checker confirms it before and after. If you mean the visible Galaxy AI watermark in the corner, no metadata tool can remove it, because it is part of the image.
Does every Galaxy photo carry Content Credentials?
Samsung ties Content Credentials on the S25 series to content created and edited with generative AI, and its post does not say ordinary photos get them. The only way to know for a given file is to check it.
Does scrubbing remove the Samsung AI watermark?
No. ScrubPhoto keeps the pixels byte-for-byte identical, so the watermark stays exactly where Samsung put it.
Why did my motion photo stop moving after scrubbing?
A motion photo stores its video clip after the still image in the same file. ScrubPhoto removes data appended after the image, so the scrubbed copy is a still photo. Keep the original if you want the clip.
