Terms of use
Updated
These terms cover your use of ScrubPhoto at scrubphoto.com. By using the site you agree to them. ScrubPhoto is operated by BlackReef Marketing LLC.
The service
ScrubPhoto is a free tool that removes metadata from photos and videos in your browser. It does not upload your files, and it does not keep them. The guides on this site explain how platforms label content, based on the sources they cite, and they can go out of date when a platform changes.
Your files and your responsibility
Use ScrubPhoto only on files you own or have the right to change. You are responsible for what you do with the result, including following the law and the rules of the platforms where you post.
Platforms set their own disclosure rules. Meta, TikTok and YouTube require creators to disclose realistic AI-made or AI-altered video and audio. Removing metadata does not change those rules, and ScrubPhoto must not be used to pass off AI-generated content as a real recording in a way that misleads people.
The tools that made your files may have their own terms. Some AI products forbid removing provenance tags or C2PA data from what they generate; Canva's AI Product Terms and Google's generative AI use policy are two examples. Check the terms of the tools you use before you scrub their output.
No warranty
ScrubPhoto is provided as it is, without any warranty. We test it carefully, but we do not promise that a scrubbed file will avoid a label, that every kind of metadata in every file is found, or that the site will always be available. Keep your originals. The verdicts are estimates based on published platform rules, not guarantees.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, BlackReef Marketing LLC is not liable for any loss that comes from using ScrubPhoto, including lost files, lost posts, labels applied by a platform, or account actions taken by a platform.
